Alexandria Zoo

Hop, soar and slither into reading with animal-themed children’s stories at stations around the Zoo. Visit with costumed character Clifford the Big Red Dog, get hands on with unique animal artifacts and crafts, and get up close with some of Alexandria Zoo's animal ambassadors!

Louisiana authors Brenda Farrington (Swamp Diva), Sandie McNabb Knox (The Traveling Zoo Goes to School), and Brooks Byrd (If You Give a Cat a Kolache) will be at the Zoo signing their books, which are available for purchase at the Zootique Gift Shop.

Black Angels Over Tuskegee

The Arts Council of Central Louisiana is proud to present Layon Gray’s Black Angels Over Tuskegee!

Vibrantly energetic and emotionally captivating, Black Angels Over Tuskegee continues to enlighten and educate Off-Broadway audiences after an extended opening. The Arts Council is excited to bring the outstanding talents of Peabody High alumnus, Layon Gray, back to his Alexandria roots.

Black Angels Over Tuskegee is one of the longest running productions Off-Broadway!The award-winning, historical docu-drama is a narrative of six men embarking upon a journey to become the first aviators in the United States Army Air Forces during a tumultuous era of racial segregation and Jim Crow idealism in twentieth century American history. Black Angels Over Tuskegee is inspired by true events and endorsed by the real Tuskegee airmen themselves!

Black Angels Over Tuskegee will be presented on Saturday, September 14th at 7 PM at Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center.


Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors (65+), $10 for students/children (ages 3 & up), and $50 for a family (2 adults and 2 children).

The 39 Steps is a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! This two-time Tony® and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of four), an onstage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers, and some good old-fashioned romance!
